Before you start: make sure your device supports eSIM, is carrier-unlocked, and is connected to Wi-Fi. Keep the QR code on another screen if possible.
iPhone: Settings > Cellular or Mobile Data > Add eSIM, then scan the QR code.
Android: Settings > Network & internet, Connections, or SIM manager > Add eSIM, then scan the QR code. Menu names vary by manufacturer.
After installation, label the new line, select it for mobile data, and enable data roaming when the plan instructions tell you to. Keep your primary line selected for calls if needed. Do not delete an eSIM until you are sure the trip and plan are finished.
